Speaker Bio

James Evans is the General Manager of Commercial at Airways, overseeing commercial activities that drive the company’s business goals and financial success. Rated as an Air Traffic Controller in 1996 at Nelson Tower, James has extensive experience in operational tower and surveillance roles in New Zealand and Dubai. From 2014–2019, he managed surveillance services at Dubai International Airport, enhancing safety and capacity. Before his current role, he led Airways’ surveillance services in New Zealand’s Domestic and Oceanic FIRs. James sponsored the award-winning ATM Systems Programme and Wisk Drone trials, earning accolades for resilience and drone integration at the 2024 Airspace World awards.
