Speaker Bio

Dr. Matthias Schäfer is an internationally recognized expert in air traffic surveillance and co-founder and CEO of SeRo Systems. Since 2014, SeRo has developed advanced technologies, delivering complete situational awareness to protect and maintain security and safety in the global airspace.

He researched the Security of Air Traffic Communication at the University of Oxford and at armasuisse. He is one of the founders of the OpenSky Network, a non-profit global air surveillance network that collects and analyzes data and contributed to over 600 studies.

He is the co-author of over 35 scientific papers that helped pioneer research in cybersecurity for CNS. He was a lecturer at RPTU and holds a professorship for UAV and Avionics at HSRM.
